I’m Jessie
Lovely to meet you!
I'm Jessie, and I'm dedicated to helping horse and dog owners and caregivers like you build meaningful and fun relationships with their horses and dogs.
With years of experience and a deep understanding of both equine and canine behaviour, I have the expertise to guide you and your horse dog towards an enjoyable and fulfilling life together.
With an unwavering commitment to trauma-sensitive and compassionate approaches, I prioritise building trust, using clear communication and creating a safe and enjoyable environment both you and your horse or dog.
I’d love to work with you.
Why this is the only job for me
I’ve I’m here for the long haul with the Animal Behaviour and Trauma Recovery Service. My passion is supporting caregivers and their animal companions with compassionate, trauma-sensitive care that helps rebuild trust, safety, and confidence.
I work with horses and dogs who’ve experienced fear, stress, or trauma, offering a holistic, individualised approach that respects their unique history, needs, and personality.
My mission is to walk alongside you and your animal, helping you both move forward with greater understanding and connection.
My journey began as a pony-mad child with a deep love for animals, and I’ve been fortunate to share my life with many special horses and dogs who continue to inspire me. My first pony, Percy, and my ex-racehorse, Dillon, taught me first-hand how hard it can feel when the animal you love is struggling — and how overwhelming it can be for you both.
Those experiences shaped not only my career, but also my commitment to helping caregivers and their animals find safety, understanding, and a way forward together.
Alongside my hands-on work, I am a qualified equine and canine behaviour consultant, a Full Member of the APBC, and an ABTC-registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB). I’m also a LEGS Family Dog Mediator — meaning I look at every factor that shapes your animal’s behaviour, from their past and health, to their environment and relationships.
In addition, I serve as Equine Behaviour Specialist at the Equine International Research Institute, where I co-run the Equines as Companions course alongside Dr Emily Kieson. My research focuses on affiliative behaviour and the many ways horses and humans interact and connect.
My qualifications include:
• FdSc Applied Behaviour Science and Welfare — University of Greenwich
• Bsc Equine Health and Welfare Modules;
- Equine Behaviour and Welfare (Level 6) — Royal Agricultural University
- Equine Health (Level 6) — Royal Agricultural University
My passion is supporting animals and their caregivers to thrive together - helping horses and dogs heal from trauma, navigate our human world, and build safe, trusting relationships. I’m dedicated to helping caregivers better understand their companions so they can enjoy the best life possible together.
I also acknowledge how unique every animal is, and I promise to help you find a way forward that best suits your horse or dog - and you.
I’m passionate about helping horse and dog owners establish a deep and meaningful relationship, with their equine partners and canine companions.
With years of experience and a genuine love for animals, I’m committed to providing effective, trauma-sensitive and ethical holistic solutions tailored to meet your and your animals’ unique needs.
