Frankie’s story: from fear to trust
Frankie is a Romanian rescue dog, who was found as a puppy. He arrived in the UK and had difficulty settling into life in a busy family home .He was highly stressed by noise and movement and found walks stressful. He would bark and jump up at family members grabbing clothing and on occasion biting. He also struggled with visitors and he would constantly bark and become distressed. Being concerned about Frankies’ comfort and managing safety Michelle booked him on to my Initial 90 Day Programme for Dogs who Struggle to Cope.
Over the course of the first few months, , Frankie received regular intensive support sessions to rebuild trust that focused on creating ways for him to interact with his family by adding a safe space, building predictable patterns and on- going observations of his behaviour. We also worked closely with his vet who found a suitable medication to support Frankie. Through good management, consent-based techniques , tailored enrichment, building his confidence and consistent guidance offered to everyone in the home, he gradually improved growing his social circle with people and building his sense of security . Michelle and his family learned how to communicate with him, good management strategies and gained a deeper understanding of his needs..
“Through Jessie’s help and dog-centred approach she took everything at his pace and spent time building trust with Frankie over-time . He is now so much calmer and able to cope with life and we have ways to support him with visitors and day to day life that meet his needs and ours.”

Whilst I cannot guarantee specific results, as with severe trauma or complex cases full resolution is not always realistic. However, regardless of outcome I will do my best to create realistic adaptations for your dog to have the best quality of life possible.
. Unfortunately there are no full guarantees with behaviour as many factors are involved but for,the vast majority of more straight-forward cases improvement and positive change is possible.
I can’t wait to give you the support and guidance you need, to help you and your dog share best life possible together.

I use an animal-led and consent-based approaches which are trauma-sensitive. and evidence-based focusing on empowering your dog . I also focus on supporting you to meet their individual, species and breed specific needs to create a happier more balanced dog. Where appropriate more structured positive reinforcement based training. maybe incorporated. However, for traumatised dogs the priority is supporting them to return to their baseline, reduce stress and create safety.
I do not use any flooding but instead incorporate gentle systematic desensitisation and titration and pendulation to support safety and curosity.. This approach ensures a safe and supportive environment for your dog by gradually building trust at their pace. I work closely with your vet and other professionals to ensure your dog is supported in a holistic way.
